Longtime Company Executive Chef & Partner Jason McLeod Departs San Diego's Consortium Holdings Hospitality Company

March 16, 2022

After over a decade with the company, Jason McLeod has left his position as corporate executive chef of San Diego's Consortium Holdings hospitality group (Ironside Fish & Oyster, Morning Glory).

In 2011, British Columbia-born Jason McLeod joined the team at San Diego-based Consortium Holdings (CH Projects), which at the time only had a handful of bars and restaurants with its crown achievement being Craft & Commerce in Little Italy. In the position of culinary director of the company, Chef Jason took the group from a hipster collective of style-over-substance, cocktail-forward establishments to a group known for its refined culinary output.ÌýPrior to joining CH, McLeod was the Executive Chef at Ria at The Elysian Hotel in Chicago, which was awarded two Michelin stars in November 2010 under his leadership.

Inspired by his upbringing near Canada's oyster mecca of Fanny Bay, Jason McLeod opened Little Italy seafood house Ironside Fish & Oyster in early 2014, reportedly his first restaurant in partnership with CH. He went on to open many other projects with the company, including bi-level steakhouse Born & Raised, brunch-centered Morning Glory, Chinese restaurant Fortunate Son, industry-focused East Village sandwich shop and Negroni bar J & Tony's Discount Cured Meats and Negroni Warehouse, the 14,000 square-foot Uncle Italian bar & restaurant on the University of California San Diego campus, and Seneca Italian trattoria on the 19th floor of the InterContinental Hotel in San Diego's downtown marina district.Ìý

Chef McLeod took a sabbatical from Consortium Holdings last fall, returned this year for a brief period and just this past week finalized his departure from the company. McLeod has moved away from San Diego and took a consulting chef position with Aria Hotel in Las Vegas, where he will assist in reconceptualizing the previous buffet restaurant. Chef Kat Humphus will step up in her role as CH'sÌýDirector of Kitchen Development and lead the company in menu design and implementation for new and current projects, although CH has clarified that she is not a direct replacement for Chef Jason. McLeod remains listed as a stockholder on the liquor license for Consortium's incoming Leila restaurant, set to open at some point this year or next atÌý3956 30th Street in San Diego's North Park.Ìý
