UPDATE: Little Italy All-Day Brunch Palace Morning Glory Pushes Grand Opening To April 24

April 11, 2019

San Diego hospitality group Consortium Holdings (Born & Raised, Ironside, Craft & Commerce) is gearing up to open the company's first breakfast-focused bar & restaurant. With a price tag of more than $3 million, Morning Glory is now scheduled to grand open above Little Italy's Piazza Della Famiglia on Wednesday, April 24.

It's a concept more than 6 years in the making (), and on April 22, San Diego's hippest and most prolific restaurant group will unveil their take on a modern breakfast & brunch restaurant. Perched on the second story of Vici Apartment building above Little Italy's new Piazza Della Famiglia, Morning Glory is already a beacon of curiosity with its copper-sheathed facade overlooking the main drag of San Diego's top dining neighborhood.

Look at that soufflé pancake!
Morning Glory aims to take the most important meal of the day to the next level, with an ambitious globally-inspired menu featuring items like caviar coated eggs, house-smoked seafood sandwiches, soufflé pancakes, and an extensive pastry program from Consortium's corporate pastry chef Elizabeth Olson. A collaborative effort from Corporate Chef & Partner Jason McLeod, R&D Chef Phillip Esteban, and Executive Chef Jocelyn Cano, the menu at Morning Glory will do with brunch what Born & Raised did with classic steakhouse fare. To complement the ample food list, company beverage director Anthony Schmidt has crafted a cocktail and drink program tailored to day-consumption where stylish cocktail carts will float around the dining room to keep glasses full and diners buzzing.

For Morning Glory's chic interior, CH's resident designer Paul Basile went above and beyond in implementing features to evoke classic American nostalgia, including Venetian pink pearl and mint tiles, copper and wood accents, an interactive stained glass window, titanium topped bar, and an open kitchen with premium Hestan custom appliances. There are also more than twenty 14-foot-high motorized bi-fold windows which open via cables to allow patrons to overlook bustling India Street below. Seating will include everything from the bar to counter to custom wood booths surrounded by living plants.

In addition to Morning Glory, Consortium Holdings is working on launching more than a half-dozen additional concepts this year, including a rooftop sky bar & restaurant named The Reading Club atop InterContinental Hotel, a much-delayed new location of Soda & Swine opening in the longtime Porter's Pub space on the University of California San Diego Campus, an industry-focused sandwich shop and Negroni-focused bar called J & Tony's Discount Cured Meats and Negroni Warehouse in the East Village neighbored by a coffee house in partnership with San Diego's Modern Times Beer dubbed the Invigatorium, and the company has also purchased the shopping plaza at 3401 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights for an unknown reason.

Located at 550 Date Street in San Diego's Little Italy, Morning Glory is currently slated to open at 7am on Wednesday, April 24.
