The national tour of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical is set to make its San Diego debut for a limited run at the Civic Theatre from May 27 to June 1, 2025. The production, which chronicles the life and career of the legendary singer-songwriter, will bring Diamond's iconic hits to the stage in a performance celebrating his enduring legacy.
The musical, created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, tells the story of his rise from a Brooklyn-born aspiring artist to one of the best-selling musicians of all time. With more than 120 million albums sold and an extensive catalog of hits, including Sweet Caroline, America, and Forever in Blue Jeans, the production highlights Diamond’s influence on American music.
Nick Fradiani, best known for winning American Idol in 2015, will star as "Neil Diamond - Then," reprising the role he played on Broadway. He will be joined by a cast that includes Tony nominee Robert Westenberg as "Neil Diamond – Now," Hannah Jewel Kohn as Marcia Murphey, and Lisa Reneé Pitts as Doctor. The ensemble, dubbed "The Noise," will perform a mix of Diamond’s chart-topping hits while telling his story through a blend of theatrical performance and concert-style production.
The creative team behind A Beautiful Noise features Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Olivier Award-winning choreographer Steven Hoggett (Once, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and writer Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Two Popes). The production also boasts scenic design by Tony Award winner David Rockwell, lighting by four-time Tony winner Kevin Adams, and orchestrations led by Bob Gaudio and Sonny Paladino.
The show's San Diego run is part of its national tour, following a successful Broadway debut. According to producers, the tour honors Diamond's legacy by bringing his story and music to audiences across the country, much like the singer himself did throughout his career.
