Mother Earth Brew Co. was started by homebrewer Dan Love in 2008, growing from its garage-based beginnings to become one of the region's leading breweries. The company expanded significantly over the years, including the development of a 28,000-square-foot brewing facility in Vista, a 40,000-square-foot production facility in Nampa, Idaho, and a tasting room pub in downtown Boise. Known for its award-winning beers such as Cali Creamin' Vanilla Cream Ale, Mother Earth became a staple in San Diego's craft beer scene.
The San Diego Brewers Guild sent out an email today stating that Mother Earth Brewing Company has listed its brewery at 2055 Thibodo Road in Vista for sale. The facility listed features a fully operational brewery with advanced equipment, including a 20-barrel, three-vessel Premier Stainless brewhouse, fermentation and conditioning tanks, a packaging hall, and bulk grain silos. Prospective buyers have the option to purchase the equipment outright or enter a lease-to-own financing arrangement with Mother Earth Brew Co. The property also includes office space, a cold storage option, and convenient access to Highway 78. 鈥淭he truth is that after opening a regional production facility in 2017 that shoulders the lion鈥檚 share of production, it just doesn鈥檛 make sense to operate two separate production听facilities,鈥 co-founder Kamron Khannakhjavani said in a statement. 鈥淭he Vista facility was never built from the ground up to function as a high-volume production brewery, but rather to听remain a site for R&D and innovation. As we assess our production needs going into 2025 it just doesn鈥檛 make sense to continue operating multiple facilities of that scale. In other words, we aren鈥檛 leaving, we are simply reducing our footprint.鈥
Since opening its brewing facility in Idaho, Mother Earth has gradually scaled back its Vista footprint, now occupying about 12,000 square feet across multiple suites in its longtime brewery. The company is now renegotiating a lease to consolidate operations into three suites totaling roughly 7,400 square feet, while maintaining a public tasting room that became exclusively Mother Earth鈥檚 after the departure of The Lost Abbey Brewing, its former co-tenant.听
So it turns out, despite San Diego Brewers Guild鈥檚 email with the subject, 鈥淣orth County Brewery for Sale,鈥 only a portion of the overall facility is part of any potential purchase.听
