Fisher's Seafood House Closes Its Doors In San Diego's Little Italy After Less Than Two Years In Business

After less than two year's in business, Fisher's Seafood House has closed its location in San Diego's Little Italy, which was the first U.S. branch for the upscale seafood brand based out of Mexico City.

Fisher's Seafood House was founded in Mexico City in 1989 as a 4-seat restaurant and the company now has more than 20 locations dotted around Mexico. The upscale seafood restaurant chain has its own seafood processing facility that allows it to break down fresh seafood for its many restaurants. The San Diego location opened in May 2023 in the 8,700 square-foot space that previously housed the short-lived Roma Urban Market on the outskirts of San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood.Ìý

Fisher's was known for offering a diverse menu of Mexican mariscos, including ceviches, aquachiles, and seafood tacos, all prepared with fresh ingredients from its own processing facility. The closure was not announced in advance, and the reasons for the decision have not been officially disclosed. Fisher's shuttering adds to the growing list of recent restaurant closures in the area, which could be attributed to various economic, operational, or strategic factors.
