Chefs From Michelin-Starred Addison Ready To Grand Open 24 Suns Chinese Restaurant In San Diego's North County

Two former chefs and a sommelier from San Diego's three-Michelin-starred Addison are bring a new Chinese restaurant called 24 Suns to North County.

Chefs Nic Webber and Jacob Jordan, both formerly of Addison, are set to officially launch their new restaurant, 24 Suns, later this month. Located in the former Angelina's Bar & Grill space within Copperwood Center shopping center in Oceanside, the restaurant’s grand opening coincides with the celebration of Lunar New Year, an occasion deeply tied to the establishment's focus on tradition and intentionality in its dishes.

Webber and Jordan bring extensive culinary experience to 24 Suns. Webber previously cooked at Michelin three-star Benu in San Francisco and ran a Korean fried chicken food truck before returning to San Diego to work at Addison. Jordan, whose background includes Michelin-starred Frasca in Boulder, joined Addison to help develop the restaurant's bread program. Together, the chefs launched a Chinese culinary pop-up concept, hosting events at venues around San Diego before deciding to open their own restaurant.
24 Suns' menu is rooted in Chinese culinary traditions, with dishes designed to honor the symbolism and meaning associated with Lunar New Year. Highlights include Yi Mein, or "longevity noodles," served as a single 12-foot-long noodle to symbolize a long life, and Yi Sangh, or "prosperity salad," which incorporates symbolic ingredients such as tangerines, representing abundance. Other selections includeÌýOrange Fried Sweetbreads made with Sinton & Sons beef, chives, sesame, and rice; Lotus & Pork Stamps with Thompson Heritage Ranch pork head, tamarind aioli, and white pepper; Brown Butter Fried Chicken with clove brown butter sauce, grapefruit, and oro blanco; and Box Crab Multigrain Congee with preserved lemon, pepitas, sunflower seeds, and scallions.

The restaurant features an innovative cocktail program led by general manager Kyle South, formerly the lead sommelier at Addison. The drinks are crafted to complement the menu, with inventive options like the Cruel Feng's Knees, made with green Sichuan, gin, lemon, and ginger, and the Spartacus Mezcal Old Fashioned, featuring bergamot Italicus, orange, and cinnamon.

Although 24 Suns has been in a soft-opening phase under the name Swan & Fox since July 2024, the restaurant closed temporarily for renovations in preparation for its official re-launch. The refreshed space will accommodate 50-60 guests, with seating options that include a stone bar, large booths, and tables.

24 Suns will grand open on January 31 at 3375 Mission Avenue in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. For more information, visit Ìýand check out the launch menu below.
