Renowned for its upscale California cuisine and extensive wine program, The Winery ceased operations without fanfare or explanation. The restaurant originally opened in February 2018, extending its celebrated brand from Orange County, where it continues to operate locations in Newport Beach and Tustin.
Spanning 7,000 square feet, the UTC location boasted a sophisticated dining room, a heated and wind-protected patio, and two climate-controlled wine cellars showcasing an impressive collection of over 600 bottles. Initially led by Executive Chef Yvon Goetz, the menu featured premium steaks, seafood, wild game, and Pacific Rim-inspired dishes, solidifying its reputation as a destination for fine dining enthusiasts.
Guests arriving at The Winery were greeted by a simple handwritten note on the entrance that read: "SORRY WE ARE CLOSED T.Y." The website also now has a "404 Page not found" message. No details have been shared regarding the abrupt closure or future plans for the space.
The Winery was located at 4301 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite 2040, within Westfield UTC mall in San Diego's La Jolla community.
