The Voltaire Street space, previously Voltaire Beach House, was a Nantucket-inspired, open-air bar and restaurant that debuted in 2017 in the former O'Bistro location. However, after a change in ownership in January 2023, the establishment became embroiled in controversies, including allegations of unpaid wages, mismanagement, and even theft, ultimately leading to its closure in September 2024. The disputes left former staff and neighboring businesses in upheaval. Now, the site is set for a fresh start under new leadership.
Kyle Jaworski, former managing partner and general manager of Raglan Public House in Ocean Beach, and Sebastian Widman, formerly the sales director for the now-defunct Amplified Ale Works, are in the process of finalizing a lease on the nearly 4,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor venue. Their new concept, currently dubbed The Jetty, is expected to feature a gastropub-style menu alongside a full bar serving beer, wine, and cocktails.
The Jetty aims to open by summer 2025 at 4934 Voltaire Street in San Diego's Ocean Beach.
