Tajima Ramen Opens Long-Awaited Location In San Diego's Pacific Beach

After two years of anticipation, San Diego's original Japanese ramen chain, Tajima Ramen, has officially opened its newest outpost in the Crown Point area of Pacific Beach.

Isamu "Sam" Morikizono, a pioneer in San Diego’s ramen scene, opened the first Tajima location in Kearny Mesa back in 2001 - long before the city saw the ramen boom it experiences today. Over the years, Tajima has expanded to include seven locations across San Diego, as well as branches in Tijuana and Maui.

Beyond Tajima, Morikizono has taken on other ventures, including a partnership with Cesar Vallin, former owner of Prospect Bar & Grill in La Jolla, and Setaro Takashi, who runs more than 30 restaurants in Japan. Together, they launched Cloak & Petal in Little Italy. Morikizono also previously operated Corner Chicken, a Nashville-style fried chicken restaurant in East Village that occupied the former Cafe Chloe space before closing in 2021.

Tajima took over the 1,990-square-foot space at 3784 Ingraham Street, formerly home to The Menu restaurant, in 2022. After sitting vacant for two years, construction on the new ramen spot began earlier this year, culminating in its quiet opening this past weekend.
Situated between neighborhood favorites Rocky’s Crown Pub and Bayside Landing bar, the Crown Point Tajima offers a menu that stays true to the chain's signature style. Guests can enjoy a variety of ramen noodle soups, Japanese appetizers, rice bowls, and a selection of drinks, including beer, wine, and sake.

Tajima Ramen’s newest location is now open at 3784 Ingraham Street in Pacific Beach. For more information, visit .
