The SDPD took to social media on Monday to warn the public of a fake parking tickets being issued around San Diego. These fake citations direct vehicle owners to make monetary donations to various organizations, mimicking official parking tickets to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
The SDPD shared an example of a recent fake ticket and advised residents that other variations might also be circulating. Legitimate parking citations in San Diego are only issued by uniformed Police Officers or San Diego Parking Enforcement Officers, and they never request payment in the form of donations to organizations.
If you see anyone place a ticket similar to the one pictured & it is not a San Diego Police-issued parking citation and it was not issued by a uniformed Police Officer or a uniformed San Diego Parking Enforcement Officer, please call the San Diego Police Department @ 619-531-2000
