While the news of Dark Horse Coffee's closure marks the end of an era, it also ushers in a new chapter for the independent coffee roaster, which will move just a block away to 3330 Adams Avenue. In a heartfelt social media post, Dark Horse expressed gratitude to its loyal customers and team who helped make the flagship shop a cornerstone of the Normal Heights community.

"NORMAL HEIGHTS - this is where Dark Horse began. And you've been so good to us. Too good," the statement reads. "Through the ups & downs over the last 12 years, our shop... has served us well. But it’s because of our team & YOU, the customers and community, that makes this shop so special."

The decision to relocate stems from the desire to better serve its customers with a larger, more accessible space. The new location will offer enhanced features, including more seating, a wider food menu, a stair-free entrance, and improved air conditioning - important upgrades for both staff and patrons. Dark Horse's current shop will remain open for one more week, allowing fans to enjoy the original space and reflect on the memories made over the past decade. While the move may feel bittersweet to longtime patrons, the team at Dark Horse sees it as an opportunity to elevate the coffee experience while staying true to their roots.

"We can’t wait to show you the new space and create new memories with you all," the post concludes.
Founded in 2013, Dark Horse Coffee Roasters quickly became a key player in San Diego’s burgeoning craft coffee scene. Known for its exceptional coffee, laid-back atmosphere, and commitment to quality, the company has grown from its humble Normal Heights beginnings to multiple locations across San Diego County and beyond. The coffee roaster also sells its beans to several other area cafes and restaurants.
