More Details Emerge About Trust Restaurant Group's New Project | Fort Oak Will Open Later This Year In San Diego's Mission Hills

June 13, 2018

We announced earlier this year that the restaurant group behind hit San Diego hotspots Trust and Hundred Proof would be opening a new concept in Mission Hills. We now know the concept will be a 3,400 square-foot, indoor-outdoor eatery called Fort Oak, which is expected to launch this fall on the ground floor of local architect Jonathan Segal's new The Fort mixed-used building.

The all-star squad made up of Chef/Co-Owner Brad Wise, GM/Co-Owner Steve Schwob, Pastry Chef Jeremy Harville and Director of Beverage Juan Sanchez are all Eat.Drink.Sleep (JRDN, Belmont Park, Cannonball, Draft) alums that branched off in early 2016 for the opening of Trust Restaurant within design guru's neighborhood-redefining "Mr. Robinson" building on the corner of Park and Robinson in Hillcrest. The team expanded in 2017 with the opening of Hundred Proof - a more casual bar & restaurant located four blocks North of Trust.

Fast forward to 2018, and the Trust Restaurant Group team has teamed up with Jonathan Segal once again. Fort Oak will be the anchor restaurant for The Fort, Segal's new 36-unit apartment complex at the corner of Fort Stockton and Park Bouelevards in Mission Hills. The restaurant will be built with the help of GTC Design to take advantage of the historic, cylindrical structure that housed the Neuner Brothers Ford Building since the 1940s. The restaurant will have a central horse-shoe bar and cocktail lounge, two patios, and ample seating options including a kitchen bar dining counter and main dining room with an elegant wine feature. Expect a unique California-American menu with raw bar options and a tasting nook for omakase-style, chefs-whim dinners. Behind the bar, there will be a list of craft cocktails, local brews and a curated wine selection. Once open as early as this November, Fort Oak will serve dinner daily, with happy hour as well as weekend brunch.Ìý
