The Patio Group has plans to open a second outpost of its steamed bun and poke eatery in Mission Hills. Sited less than a block from the company's The Patio on Goldfinch restaurant, Bao Beach will install within a small storefront on Washington Street that previously housed a florist.
The Patio Group opened the first location of Bao Beach in San Diego's Mission Beach in December 2016. Centered around the Taiwanese steamed bun sandwiches, the fast-casual eatery offers a variety of gua bao sandwi h selections, as well as poke bowls, onigiri rice balls, and small plates like edamame, fried chicken kaarage and bulgogi beef fries, all available for dine-in or take-out.
The second Bao Beach branch will install at 901 W Washington Street in the space that last housed Mission Hills Florist. The eatery is not expected to open until late 2018, early 2019. In addition to its food menu, the restaurant will also serve a selection of draft beer, wine and sake.
The Patio Group is also in the process of expanding its Surf Rider Pizza chain of restaurants, which was purchased from now-company Senior VP of Food and Beverage Hilary Rossi in 2016. Locations are set to debut in Pacific Beach's Crown Point area and La Mesa, alongside a newly remodeled eatery with rooftop dining and ocean views in Mission Beach. We speculate that the burgeoning real estate and hospitality company will soon open a San Diego outpost of itsÌýÌýconcept, which was launched last Fall in Petaluma, CA, but nothing has been confirmed.
