What was started as a chicken and rice food cart by three Egyptian-born immigrants in New York City in 1990 has grown to 35 thriving locations around the globe with hundreds more in the pipeline. As part of a huge expansion spearheaded by franchise professionals Fransmart, The Halal Guys plan to open locations around San Diego in the near future.
Founded by Egyptian immigrants Mohammed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsakaas, and Abdelbaset Elsayed, The Halal Guys is a testament to the American Dream - growing from humble beginnings as a food cart on the streets of midtown Manhattan to a global icon known as the largest American Halal street food concept in the world. This New York-based landmark was created by three like-minded men from Egypt who came to America in search of a better life.ÌýThe Halal Guys currently has over 200 new restaurants in development worldwide.
Franchisee Paul Tran, who opened The Halal Guys’ first Southern California location in Costa Mesa in 2015, is currently searching for locations around San Diego as part of his aim to open 50 Southern California outposts in partnership with the Fransmart franchise development company, which is also behind San Diego's incoming SlapfishÌýfast-seafood concept. The Halal Guys is known for its simple menu of various Middle Eastern dishes, including gyro sandwiches, chicken-and-rice platters and the famous white and red sauces. The Halal Guys has already been well received in numerous markets including Dallas, Philadelphia, Arizona, Chicago and California.
