Café Chloe Owners To Open Minou Crêperie Patisserie In San Diego's East Village

January 15, 2017

We recently broke the news that Café Chloe owners Alison McGrant and John Clute were opening an outpost in Liberty Station dubbed Chloe At Scout Garden Café & Events. The husband-and-wife partners are also in the process of opening Minou Crêperie Patisserie at 721 Eighth Avenue only a block away from their flagship French restaurant.

In 2004, Alison McGrath and John Clute joined forces to create San Diego’s first European-style cafe in the once blighted urban neighborhood of East Village. Café Chloe was embraced by the residents of neighborhood and the jewel box restaurant became a beloved and award-winning local destination including being voted #1 Best French restaurant by the San Diego Union-Tribune. Now, in addition to the Point Loma residents opening Chloe At Scout Garden Café & Event space at the burgeoning Arts District in Point Loma's Liberty Station, set to debut in early 2017, they are also opening a French crêperie in the East Village.

Minou, which means "pussycat" in French and was the name of Pablo Picasso's pet cat, will offer a menu of sweet and savory crepes, as well as small plates, beer, wine and cider. The eatery was anticipated to open last year but has experienced a delay and is now not expected to unveil until late 2017.Ìý
