January 9, 2016

Chef Katherine Humphus is a bad ass. Many know her as the former executive chef that launched BO-beau in Ocean Beach at age 22. She also helped the Cohn Restaurant Group open a couple other restaurants, including the gigantic BO-beau in Long Beach. She was one vote away from beating Bobby Flay on his television program, aptly named Beat Bobby Flay. She came out victorious on an episode of Guy's Grocery Games. On the last day of 2014, then 26-year-old Kat left her position as executive chef within the Cohn Group to become her own boss. She launched her own cooking website, Kat's Kitchen Collective, the very next day, which she recently evolved into a meal kit delivery company named .ÌýThis week, she secured expansive space in San Diego to grow her company in 2016.

In addition to being a graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and the valedictorian of her high school class, Kat is a longtime drummer, a passionate traveler, a licensed sky diver, a former-vegan, a native San Diegan, and an all-in-all cool person with an intimidating resume. During her early culinary career, Chef Kat worked in the kitchens of some of the most critically acclaimed restaurants in the country, including Wylie Dufresne's now-defunct WD~50 in Manhattan and Thomas Keller's The French Laundry in Napa Valley. Her passion for the culinary arts was ignited as a youth cooking with her mother and grandmother.

Chef Kat wants to pass her inspiration on to others, teaching aspiring home cooks the value of quality ingredients, all while supporting the community she is a part of, thus her newest endeavor. Savory Made Simple is a meal kit delivery service that provides subscribers with weekly deliveries that include 3 dinner recipes and all the ingredients necessary to make delicious dishes, teaching the home cook new and invaluable techniques along the way.

Let Chef Kat alleviate the hassle of meal planning and shopping and teach you a thing or two in the process.
